That Beachy Feeling {a new sign} & a Story

My mom is an auction guru.
She picks up some pretty cool stuff now and again.
Whenever I make it to Virginia then I have a blast picking through some of the loot.
(She does sell some of it on her own etsy store here)
One such time I was wondering through the forest beside their house,
(being careful to leave a breadcrumb trail for myself).
when I stumbled upon an old broken table.
I took the top to it and turned it into this lovely sign.

The legs and body of the table I sadly had to leave there.
My mom happens to be a kind and thoughtful lady though and before I know it, a broken down table arrives on my doorstep.

I had plans for it.
I truly did.
My plans got delayed and waylaid until I had no plans at all.
I sadly dismantled the poor, forlorn table and started to haul it to the trash...

But the beautiful old wood called my name and I could not bear to leave any of it behind.
Some of its sturdy legs are now working as a trellis for my soon to be dead cucumber plants.
(How was I to know the trees would leaf out so much that there would be no sunshine for the poor things?)

Some scraps of it still await my imagination.
Some have come to fruition.

I happen to love them.

But the call of the brokendoorslableakdentalworkandmore call me to sell.
Plus, that's why I painted them anyway.
For you.

I have two, both different sizes.

You can find them in my etsy store.

The table is happy again.
I am happy for the table.

Etsy Spring Fling & A New CHRIST IS.. Sign

If I had a dollar for every time someone has emailed me about this sign...
I still wouldn't be rich.
But, I would have made a decent chunk of change.

I painted a few.
I plan to paint more.
Sometime...

You can find this lovely gray and white one here.

Or this dark brown stained and creamy white one here.

And lastly, this rustic, weathered gray and white one here.
Believe it or not, this one is my favorite.
It actually didn't photograph as neat as (I think) it looks in real life.

So to celebrate the glorious arrival of Spring and of these new items, I am having a SPRING FLING sale!
Stop by my Etsy Store and pick out something special for yourself or someone dear to you.

Enter the code SPRINGFLING when you checkout and get 10% off!
Sale will end on Monday, April 8th.

Wedding Signs... again

If you're still in the wedding mood then raise your hand!

Nobody??

Okay...well the great thing is, these don't have to be wedding signs.

They can be front porch signs, pool signs, bedroom signs, kitchen signs.

Well maybe some of those would be slightly odd.
The point is...
Anywhere you and the Mr. or Mrs. are, there can be a sign to make sure you know that you're there.
Or is that odd too?
Whatever.
Decorating is 50% trend and 50% whatever makes you happy.

Go with the happy.
It'll last longer.

I added some new signs to my Etsy Store.
(Not the one right above since it would require a U-haul to transport it)

Make yourself happy.
Buy a sign.

Signs For Wedding Times

Does Spring make you think of Love and Glorious, Beautiful Weddings?

Me neither.

But if I were single and had a inkling that he may be thinking of nudging towards the alter...
Then now would be a great time to think of weddings.

As a matter of fact, I got married in the Spring.
10 years ago this April.
Great time of year to get married.

I got a bee in my bonnet and painted up some faux chalk wedding signs.

I had these sitting in my front hall for a while.
If 100 people had walked through my front door then 99 of them would run their finger over the painting to see if they could rub off the chalk.
Makes me giggle.

Some of these will be listed in my Etsy store soon.
I'm thinking of running a Spring Sale soon.
Just because I love Spring.

So if you're getting hitched or think you might want to get hitched one day....
Then keep an eye on my Etsy store.
Can't get hitched without a proper sign.
Can you?

It's About Time!

Visit thecsiproject.com
Well here I am again.
Minus many of the photos and files I once had..
Life moves on though.

By the way, thank you for all the kind thoughts and comments.
I am lucky to have a husband that works on computers for a living so I knew that everything possible was being done to save my computer.
In the end he bought me a new hard drive and we're back in biz.

I know I owe you about a weeks worth of pool updates but I thought I would take a break from that for a moment.

I recently had the opportunity to work on a special order for one of Derek's coworkers.

I had fun creating them even though (as always) they took me longer than anticipated.

The edge is more casual but gives it just the right primitive touch.
I was so inspired by these that I actually made a few more other styles for my Etsy store.

I also made this family sign as a thank you gift for someone named Freeman.
(Yes they got it already and I'm pretty sure they don't read this blog:-)

I had a blast creating this and trying to give it just the right Texas flair.
A little stretch for me since I don't do Texas decor at all.

They were happy.
I was happy.
There was happiness all around.

It's great to be back Minions!
(I've always wanted to say that and when I try it on my kids they just stare at me blankly and Derek for sure does not appreciate it. Odd.)
Let's carry on as if nothing happened to this poor ol' hunk of technology.

Carry on.
Now.

Do stop by my Etsy store!
(I'll be adding some new signs to it this week too. YUP!)

New Signs Here, There, Everywhere!

So a few weeks ago I made a commitment to slow down on my sign making...

Looks like I made true on that eh?

I had to whip up this baby to add a new industrial touch to the boys bathroom.

A custom order was in store for Jennifer over at The Old Painted Cottage.
(You ever check her blog out? *swoon*)

A little something to spice up the empty shelves of my Etsy store.

Been hitting the coffee hard and decided to pay homage.
I saw a version of this on Pinterest and had to try it out.
I did make some changes though.
I have to give a shout out to my brother-in-law (who never reads this) for thinking of me and saving all this metal for me to doodle on.
(This one is headed to Classic Furniture in VA)

Made another one of these, this time on the back of a fried (burnt to a crisp) metal sign.
You can find it over yonder for sale as well.

I did not paint this one!
Just pulled it out of a trash pile and cleaned it up a bit.
Cool thing is, I love both sides!

Ahh, you do to?
You can own it here.

Made this one for another customer up in New Hampshire.
She ordered a smaller version of my original Ski Rental Sign.
As well as the Fresh Produce seen on my Signs Page at the top.

There are more to show, but either not quite done or just not ready to be shown.

Thanks to Jennifer for showing me off over at her place today!
If this is your first time here then welcome!
I promise I talk about more than signs.
Promise.

Doing All That "Stuff"

You know some days when you just don't have a good title?
Yup, this one of them.
Mainly cause I don't have much to say today.

Sure I have stuff I could blog about, but that would require loading some pictures, editing some pictures, adding some links, writing some more words...

You get me.

I've been doing a whole lot of these pups...

If you're wanting to order some of your own then just wait a few weeks.
I am headed off to visit the family in VA for a few weeks and won't be taking any more custom orders till I return.
I know, hold your tears.

I'm currently working on a big bad sign that my customer has graciously said I can share the full reveal with you peeps next week.

Our middle son turns 3 this weekend so he's getting hyped about that.

I also turned 29 again a few weeks back and will share with you what my sweet husband gifted me with.
(He actually checked out my Pinterest board to see what was grabbing my eyeballs. Sweet.)

So that's the 4-1-1 on me these days.

What's keeping you hopping?

Custom Monogram!

You know what I am famous for in Pinterest land?

Monograms on burlap. Specifically that last photo.

It's funny to read peoples comments about them.
"genius"
"so easy to do"
"probably done with a sharpie"

Anyway, they are fairly easy to do for you DYSelfers.

However, if you are not one of those, then you can go order your own set here.

My other big hit on Pinterest
 (dontcha just love that place?!)
are these lovelies...

They will soon be available in my Etsy store as well.

A Cute Little Stool Up For Adoption!

I don't think I ever showed you this little friend of mine.
He came to me from my oldest sister in Virginia. He needed a new home, but first he needed a face lift.
I borrowed an idea I had seen in Round Top.
I love him, but right now I'm just his foster mom. He's still waiting to be adopted and can be found in my Etsy Store.

d.o.t.'s creations - Otherwise known as my NEW Etsy Store!

Do you see it right over there to the right?

Yup.
I sure did.

I opened another Etsy store.

Nope.
I'm not crazy.

I have my stores just for fun, so I add stuff and work on stuff when I can.

My new store is all about the kids, the baby and the mommy.

With stuff like this...
These are my diaper bag organizing totes. I made some for my own use first and I am loving them! Not sure about you but for me than adding another child to your life can make things feel a little out of control. It's great to be able to add little things that make you feel just a little bit more sane!
More patterns will be added soon!
I also have just a few of these for fun! I have some ideas for a couple more items I would like to make, so keep checking back!

I also marked down some stuff in my Virginia House Store, so be sure to "click" by there as well!
