Cottage Of The Month!

I had one of those jaw dropping moments when Jennifer from The Old Painted Cottage asked if our home could be featured as Cottage Of The Month.
I have so enjoyed working for Jennifer on a project.
She is one of those immensly talented people that has an amazing eye for amazing stuff.
So a huge thank you to her for featuring our home!

Gli Speciali di Casa Chic Feature

A few months back I was very honored and excited to be contacted from the Italian Magazine
 Gli Speciali di Casa Chic.
I got to work with a lovely lady there by the name of Annarita who did an amazing job of making our house look magazine worthy.

I did copy and paste everything into Google so that I could translate to english and see what was said.
It was all good stuff:-)

Annarita tried to send me a few copies through the mail so that I could have them as souvenir's.
Alas...
I received an empty envelope instead since fedex couldn't see to it that they arrived safely.
If any of you over in Europe ever see a copy then email me and I would LOVE to reimburse you any expense to have it shipped over!

Anyway it was a fun experience and I thank Annarita for her patience and her immense talent!
Thank you!

P.S. I also saw this little shout out over on Apartment Therapy that I thought was cool!

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner!

houzz interior design ideas

Is that title slightly juvenile?
Ahhh, who cares.

I received an email today informing me that I was a 2012 Best of Remodeling Houzz Award Winner in the Design category!
Now I do believe there were 1.7 million others that received the award as well, but I still feel honored:-)
Thanks Houzz!

My Kitchen Is Almost Famous! Check Her Out!

Hi friends, family and perhaps not so friendly people.
(I have no idea)
You may remember a few months back when I posted this little teaser post?
Perhaps you don't.

Either way...
I can now tell you that I have been prepping, coaching, pushing my kitchen into stardom!
I shined her surfaces and liberally applied mounds of makeup.
When all was said and done I gave her a shove and let her spread her wings and fly!

Where did she fly you ask?
Into the current issue of This Old House!

Hooray for my little gal!

Now I must gripe.
(there is a gripe with everything)
I took the photo's myself.
They are horrible.
The look even worse in the magazine.

Enough of that.

I am proud of my lady for (almost) completing her makeover on a strict, as-we-could-do-it budget.
Thank you This Old House for showing her off!

Houzz Tour!

When Becky from Houzz.com contacted me and asked me if she could do a Houzz Tour of our humble home, I was speechless.
Well not really speechless, but in my mind I was speechless.
My mouth didn't get the message though.

To be honest, our home is very normal, very average, very run-of-the-mill...
But, I love our home.

For real though, weeds grow in the cracks in our driveway (I try to pull them up when I get a minute...). A scrap pile of wood sits in our backyard, (I did try to straighten it up though...) and so on.

My house is never as clean as you see it these photos except for, well in these photos and when we have company.
We LIVE in our house if ya know what I mean!

So anyway...

Thank you Becky for writing this wonderful article and making me feel ever so witty and smart:-)
Not quite sure how she pulled that off.

I am grateful to her for getting my "motto of house decorating", if I may, across so wonderfully.
Thank you.
I say again, thank you.

Three Cheers For Miss Mustard Seed!

When I first started blogging then I had a few "blogging idols" if I may.

Number one was of course, The Lettered Cottage. Layla and Kevin have a way with decorating that steals my breath away and makes me want to be a kleptomaniac. Everything they do is just yum.

As I explored the blogging world more, there was an up and coming blog that often caught my eye called Miss Mustard Seed.

As time has gone by I have found Marian to be a valuable source of information.
She was my first stop when I went hunting for an art projector to help take my signs to the next level.
When it was time to slipcover this chair, where do you think I went?
Yup, she has a great video tutorial on slip covering.

So a big old shout out to her and a HUGE thank you for featuring my chair on Furniture Feature Friday.

I'm So Honored & Yes I'm Working Hard On...Stuff

Visit thecsiproject.com

First I want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful blog (and people, especially Stephanie) The CSI Project for picking my pool house as the #1 Project for the White Challenge!
Thank you, thank you! If you haven't ever entered any of your projects over there, then go ahead and try it. It's so much fun to see all the different projects that everyone enters.

By the way, think about linking up your first projects of the year over at WhisperWood Cottage starting tomorrow. (there's a great giveaway that goes with it!)

WhisperWood Cottage

I had hopes of entering the one I'm currently working on, but it's going to have to wait a few weeks.

Needless to say, I'm taping and painting my heart out!

My 30th Birthday Presents!

I turned 30 yesterday!!! Crazy to say it out loud and even crazier to type it so that you all now know how old I am. In all honesty I feel like I'm still 19. I truly believe that age is just a number and you are what you feel.

Therefore I had a great celebration with friends and family Saturday night when they threw a surprise party for me over at my sisters house. Was I surprised? Nah, but I was surprised to see my little sister there from VA with two of her little kiddos. We had a great time, minus my husband getting sick and having to miss the whole thing:-(
Anyway, I wanted to show off some of the neat stuff I got.
One of my friends makes these and I've been wanting one every since we did Antique Alley together. Want one? I might be able to get him to sell another one or two....
My mom and husband gave me a TON of amazing new books to look through when I get a moment.
My sister also gave me some magazines, including a Flea Market Style that I can't wait to dive into. (huh? How does one "dive" into a magazine?)
Another one of my sisters (remember I have 3) gave me this cute little red chair that I can't wait to add to my collection of mismatched ones for my dining room. I love that it's red, it kinda jumps out at you. My mom took a plain old metal pitcher and painted it to look like an enamel one. Doesn't it look so great!
My mom also gave me the bucket on the left and my oldest sister gave me the watering can. She must know the sad state of my drooping posies.

Of course there where more but I don't want to brag or anything;-) Thanks you all!!! And a very special thank you to my husband who was so sad that he couldn't be there, but he keeps me happy each day so I'm going to keep him around. (he is still in bed with strep throat. Ugh)

Another thank you to Kristine over at The Painted Hive for featuring my table and the stools I did. I really owe it to her since her creativity is what sparked my ideas for those projects.

I've been busy with family and will be busy again for the next few days, so I'll try to catch up later!
